R. W. Yeung wins ASME International Offshore, Ocean, & Arctic Division Best Paper Award
                                   






 

 

 
 

Ronald W. Yeung of Mechanical Engineering and the (IDS)Ocean Engineering Graduate Group  was presented the ASME International Best Paper Award of the J. V. Wehausen Symposium, held in 21st International Conference of  Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering (OMAE) Conference, Oslo. 2002.  The Symposium on Water Waves, Ship Waves, and Marine Hydrodynamics was held in honor of  professor emeritus J. V. Wehausen of UC Berkeley.  Yeung's paper entitled "A Perfectly Transparent Spectral Shell for Unsteady Wave-Body Interactions" and co-authored with former PhD student Andrew Hamilton, was selected for practical relevance and excellence. 

The Offshore, Ocean and Arctic Division of ASME International sponsors the OMAE conference annually.  It addresses Offshore Technology, Ocean Space Utilization, Ocean Engineering, Polar & Arctic Sciences & Technology, and other prevalent issues in the contemporary use and exploration of  the oceans.

The award plaques were presented at the Award Luncheon of this year's OMAEConference, in Cancun, Mexico, on June 10.
