ASME Honors Two Ocean Engineering students

ASME/Ocean Engineering Award

The ASME - Ocean Engineering Division Best Graduate Student Project Award of 1998 was won by two Berkeley students: Mr. Shih-Wei Liao and Mr. Dominique Roddier, advised by ME Professor R. W. Yeung. The project and paper, entitled "Generation of plunging breakers: laboratory and numerical simulation", consists of a synergistic effort of both CFD models and physical experiments that describe extreme waves of the plunging types. A panel of seven judges from academic, industrial, and government instituations were involved in the selection of this biennial event. The award includes a plaque to the Department and two meritous certificates for the students.
